Spring Planting Update

Very little, if any, planting progress has been made over the past two weeks.  All of the corn on our managed acres is planted and looks good.  The corn is between 3-5 inches tall and is waiting for some sunny weather and heat units.  Only 10-15% of our managed soybean acres have been planted and conditions remain too wet to plant.  Rain over the weekend will again prevent much planting from occurring this week.  I have talked to several operators and they are anxiously awaiting for planning conditions to improve so they can get the soybeans planted within the next couple of weeks.  Although we are at the end of the prime planting dates for soybeans, good yields can still be achieved with soybeans planted through the 2nd week of June.  More planting updates to come as weather improves.
