Planting Progress and Crop Condition

Nearly all of the corn and soybeans on our managed properties is now planted.  We will have some prevented planting on a small amount of corn and soybean acres.  Persistent rainfall and excessive moisture will delay or prevent any additional soybeans from being planted as fields will remain too wet to plant for at least 7-14 days.  The excess moisture is also hindering and slowing crop development and will likely delay timely post-emergent herbicide application on corn and possibly soybeans.  Although it is very early in the growing season the prospect for above average yields is quickly diminishing in many areas in SW Iowa and Eastern Nebraska.
